Has anyone got a paint coloured matched to farrow and ball? Love some of their colours but dont think I can afford to do the whole room in farrow and ball paint. Has anyone coloured matched and was it a good result? Thanks for any help.

I know a few people who've done it and been very pleased with the results.

My local b&q does Valspar colour matching and has all the big brand colours ready scanned. I usually get a sample of the Valspar and of the f&b and compare.

The colour match itself is good, but the finish is totally different. That said, I hate f&b paint (watery, no durability) and so the Valspar finish is no bad thing. For other brands (Mylands, Little Green), I often don’t find the price saving to be worth it.

If it’s a popular f&b colour, take a look on eBay, Facebook marketplace etc. I’ve had good success buying second hand unopened tins.

We had the two top floors of our house colour matched in Johnstones super matt durable to Farrow and Ball & Little Greene colours after a loft conversion was done last year. Some were better than others. We used Skimming Stone, Wevet and Calamine in various bedrooms - they all came out looking great. The Little Greene shade was one of the navy blues, which we did in the bathrooms - that also looks great. In the hall, landing and two flights of stairs we did Slipper Satin and that was less successful - came out more magnolia than i was hoping but given the cost we'd already spent, there was no way we could redo it so i am making the best of it for now! None of them have the same depth of colour as the true brands, but we obviously saved a huge amount given the amount of area we had to do, so it was a compromise i was happy to make.

I’ve just had Tailor Tack colour matched in Crown Kitchen matt paint. It went on like a dream, one coat looks amazing and 1/3 cheaper than F&B for the same size tin.

Although I love their colours, I don’t like the F&B finish or that it needs a good couple of coats (more ££). It has chipped easily in no time at all in my living room, so I’ve also had Oval Room Blue colour matched in the same matt Crown to go over it.

Give it a go, you can always repaint if you don’t like it 😊

I've found that Johnson paint matching is much better finish compared to the B&Q/Valspar matching.

Also if you go online and find the hex code for the Farrow and Ball colour, you can give that to the person matching the paint. It'll be a perfect match compared to scanning a tester.

Hi, same questions here, particularly regarding using Johnstone's to colour match. Has anyone matched F&B Wimborne White or Pointing? Or Little Green's Slaked Lime?

Contraryjane · 10/11/2024 08:24

I’ve used Brewers to colour match both Pointing and Wimborne White in Dulux Diamond Matt (scrubbable)). No complaints.

Highly recommend dulux colour match in dulux heritage finish - not wipeable but has the same depth and chalky finish as F&B
