Anyone have any idea what would cause these issues on the front of a property?

The one under the chimney looks like water? But above the windows looks burnt, as if there’s been a fire. What’s the story? Is it your house?

Both look like penetrating damp to me.

If it's a home that is being sold then I'd see that as material information that the seller and EA should disclose up front.

The damp under the chimney could be caused by a gutter being blocked for a long time. Have a look next time you have heavy rain

That's water damage, the roof one is probably faulty gutter possibly a chimney flashing problem. The second photo I assume the door has a little flat roof bit so I assume it collects water in the bit where it attaches to the wall and water is working its way in and upwards through the bricks

The first one looks like the roof/flashing is leaking just below the chimney and the water is leaking into the eaves/fascia then running down the brickwork.
The second looks like the gutter is leaking and its dripping on to the flat roof splashing onto the brickwork, then its going damp and mouldy.

Both are probably simple fixes.

Agree with others, it looks like water damage, both from blocked gutters I suspect. The one above the porch roof is probably where it drips down from the gutter above and splashes up the wall. If it doesn't get much sun, it is unlikely to dry out for ages after rain, so there could be algae/moss growing on the wall which makes it look dark like that.

Agree looks like water damage (re: dark colour it can be due to dirty old rusty pipes changing colour of the water thereby darkening the wall).

Personally, I’d ask them to fix it if it’s so and additionally as part of your survey check to make sure it’s not penetrated inwards (you can generally find out how damp a wall is through a device and most surveyors have one). If you’re looking to buy it, of course!
