Getting Victorian Plumbing to pay for labour?

We bought a new toilet from Victorian Plumbing at the end of last year and it was finally fitted last week.

It wasn’t until it was fitted that it became apparent there’s a leak in the pan. There’s no visible crack but the water is seeping through what looks like it could be a thinned piece of porcelain (suspect some kind of defect with the manufacturing although it’s not clear).

VP have emailed me today to agree it’s a fault and to say they’re sending a new pan out on Monday. Great.

However, I’ve just realised I’m going to be £200? £300? out of pocket as I’ll have to pay our plumber to come and disconnect the faulty toilet and reconnect this one.

I’m quite pissed off about this and wondered if anyone had ever asked the company to pay towards the cost of fitting?

I’ve looked through their terms and conditions and there’s nothing either way. There’s no visible fault so no way we could have known before it was fitted.

Any advice before I contact them? I don’t see why I should be out of pocket when they’ve provided faulty goods. I was wondering if there was any legislation I could quote to back up my argument?

Thanks!
