Tap leak and tiled-in bath

I had posted over the weekend about our house move on Friday and the issues we found. We had a plumber out earlier today to look at the bath tap which is running slightly from a join under the tap handle, and the steady dripping from the tap itself into the bath. The bathroom is fully tiled and no access hatch to get in under the bath, plumber has said he needs to break open the tiling to fix the tap.
DH thinks we should just leave it as is, saying that the dripping/running water is going into the bath and not causing any bother. If you were us, would you just deal with the damage and get it fixed, or leave it as is?

I would get it fixed.
Are you not on a water meter?

I'm in Scotland, sure I read somewhere recently we don't have them here but I may be wrong about that. Not sure how to find out tbh

Are you planning to redo bathroom in future? If so I’d leave it if only a drip.

don’t think we have water meters in Scotland either?

I may be in the minority but I’d get it fixed , I think I’d be worried if the tap was leaking from the join that there’s every chance the plumbing under the bath also needs some work . So in my mind I’d rather have it fixed before it potentially damages your ceiling under it . Can the plumber do a reasonable job of making an access hatch at the same time . Also any possibility of spare matching tiles having been left somewhere ( ours are in the loft as we have had a couple of new showers since our bathroom was tiled and needed spare tiles each time ) .

Did the plumber assure you that the water wasn't leaking/running anywhere except into the bath? If you're not on a meter (call the water company who supplies your property to find out) then you could leave it but if its going anywhere else, water damage is never good. It might be worth having a smaller job and re-tile now to avoid replacing taps, floors/joists in future.
