Mould/damp advice

Hi all, after some advice really. Bought a new property with fab wooden bed base built into the wall if that makes sense so stuck single mattress on it and forgot about it for now (DS still in cot)

Noticed today that duvet and all bedding moudly nearest wall so investigated and got a few photos. Will make sure we don't put any damp items on radiator in that room and try to encourage ventilation.

Has anyone had any experience of mould resistant paint or got any suggestions how to prevent happening again?

TIA x

Open windows, use a dehumidifier

There needs to be a gap between the wall and the mattress in that corner so air can circulate.
Id be removing the built in and just buy a bed tbh.
Astonish mould and mildew remover will get rid of what’s there, and you can paint over it with mould paint, but it will come back if the conditions stay the same.

I’m not a fan of using mattresses on a solid bed frame as there is no way of airing the mattress after use. Most bed frames have slats to air the mattress.

I had air bricks installed in my bed room ( bungalow) after I moved in as my divan bed mattress was damp after being against the outer wall with no headrest and there was mould on the wall. I also bought a headrest to keep the bed from touching the wall. I’ve not had a problem with mould in that room since then.

It’s just typical condensation mould. Need windows open more. Keep house heated to a reasonable temperature. Get a dehumidifier. Being honest if that wall is cold you’d be better to have the shelf removed and get a proper bed that you can leave a slight gap between that and the wall.

Put the mattress on the floor and use the shelf as a desk?

With any outside wall it needs to be able to breath, so no wardrobes etc in front of it without leaving a reasonable gap.

Can you put a headboard at that end of the frame a few inches in front to allow air to get to the wall? Trapped moisture form the mattress will allow mould to spread, maybe drill some holes in the wooden base if it is not slatted too.
