Filling holes in new stone worktop (pics)

Had a lovely new stone worktop installed in the kitchen and noticed an area of approx 3cm which has a very matt appearance, and tiny holes - see pic. I don't know if this is a natural imperfection in the stone, or if it's been (poorly) filled. Annoyingly, the imperfection is right next to the hob, where we do food prep and I'm worried it'll get grubby / discolored.

I also don't know how well it will do over time - if it's been filled, is there a chance the filler might come out and we'll be left with a big hole..?

Does anyone have experience of filling tiny holes in stone? What did you use?

I've contacted both the stone suppliers and the fabricators but they're both denying responsibility and won't even recommend a product that I can use myself... it's pretty disheartening as it wasn't cheap! (I didn't notice the imperfection when I went to the stone yard as it was such a large slab...)

We do have a part of the slab left over, so I was almost wondering whether to just replace part of the worktop, though no one else seems bothered by it. It just annoys me to know it's there, and I worry how well it will do over time.

The stone is Taj Mahal Quartzite (also known as Perla Venata).

They can be repaired and you'll need to contact a company that specialises in repairs. This material has some disadvantages and it looks like it has not been sealed in that area. How did you pay for it, could you use the card company to get them to intercede as it looks like a finishing issue on the worktop.

Sadly I paid in cash… I’m still pushing for the fabricators to fix it, but also exploring other options in case they continue to ignore.

Do you know if this looks like this 3cm imperfection might pop out over time, and leave a bigger hole? If so, I think replacing part of the worktop might be best? Or is it possible to successfully fill / camouflage if that did happen?

Lesson learned. Never pay in full unless satisfied all the work has been completed to entire satisfaction.
