PIV condensation unit - worth it?

Hi, We currently get a lot of condensation in our home and it's a battle to keep it at bay. We do all the usual things such as open windows daily, don't dry clothing on radiator's etc.

Considering installing a PIV unit and was just wondering if anyone can share their experience with them. Are they worth it, cost a lot to install and to run daily with energy prices being as insane as they are?

Thanks in advance

A lot of people say they are brilliant.

I can''t really see the difference between them an opening a window and putting a fan in front of it (well gettting one of these installed will cost you £k so there is a difference).

I would get a dehumidifier first and try that. Running costs for the dehumidifier will probably be more, but hard to tell. Reason is PIV will be fan only, whereas with the dehumidifier you run a fridge as well. But the dehumidifier will not suck in cold air from outside your house, so you will not need to heat your house back up to compensate for this.

Thank you for this. It is something I have considered also

Dh is considering one.

Yes, brilliant. I put one into a rented house which was constantly getting mouldy (probably largely lifestyle related). It solved the problem completely

@thecatneuterer thank you. I am glad it has worked for you and good to hear some positives

Is there not an issue with continually pulling in high humidity air from outside during damper days/winter months?

Or does this not matter because the absolute humidity is still lower than the air inside the house?
