House problems recurring / never-ending

Is it just me or do other people have houses that constantly have issues, including ones that just seem unfixable? Over the last 5 years we've had damp, rot, broken appliances, and now a leak we thought was fixed has recurred. We are getting the guys out again to look at it but I am beyond depressed and finding myself completely consumed with the fear we will never get the house right and that we own a nightmare. Is it just us or are other people's houses a recurring problem too?? I really love my house in a lot of ways but feel constantly unsettled by all the issues and feel like noone else's leaks / breaks like ours does. Do other people just not notice / live with stuff??

We bought a house built in 1991 back in 2016, so it was already 25 years old at the time - and it was definitely showing its age. Since then, we've gradually replaced the boiler, windows, doors, flooring, two bathrooms, an ensuite, the front door, fully decorated after stripping the wallpaper that covered the whole house, and a lot more. Just this week, we had the front of the house painted and someone came to fix the stiff uPVC door that connects the garage to the garden.
There's still a lot left to do. Sometimes I wonder if I'll ever get to simply enjoy living in a modern, move-in-ready home.

Yes. We’ve been fairly lucky with ours but we spent a lot when we first brought 8 years ago and updated the electrics, boiler kitchen and bathroom and made sure things were done properly. However we also seem to have a conservatory roof leak every 2 years which requires work, and appliances are all starting to go at the same time! We’ve also had bathroom leaks, guttering and small roof issues. We just expect to have to pay a couple of grand a year on home stuff.

The answer is simply yes.
The UK house stock is really old and most houses not kept up to proper standards.
There’s always something. Best to have some money put aside monthly so there are no issue when it’s needed.
