Buying in Chorleywood-Met line question

We're seriously considering putting an offer in on a house we've seen i Chorleywood, however wondered if anyone had experiences of commuting on the metropolitan line from there? We were planning to use met line rather than Chiltern railways as its actually quicker to where we need to go (Westminster), and much cheaper tube fares. But we'd be leaving a 'known' commute from Guildford for something where we're not sure about train reliability and if we'd ever get a seat. Any experiences appreciated!

Anyone with experiences at Old McDonald's Day nursery in Chorleywood would also be really helpful.

I live further up that line and also commute into Westminster. The best route is getting the met line Finchley Road and changing to the jubilee from there. I only go in a couple of times a week, but there's rarely any problems. It costs me about £15/16 a day to travel in peak time (will be a bit cheaper for you) and takes about 50 minutes, I think (slightly shorter from Chorleywood)

In terms of getting a seat, I think it would depend on the time you go, you're the 3rd stop on both the amersham and chesham lines so it won't be packed if you get an early train in (which I do), if you aim to get in for 9 it can be a different story. Jubilee seats will be hit and miss. Travelling home I usually don't get a seat straight away but tend to be able to sit after a couple of stops.

It's a lovely area to raise a family, by the way - we're not far from Chorleywood and really happy we moved here. So many nice parks/places to visit/things to do.

I live in Rickmansworth and used to commute to Finchley Rd, so a similar journey. The met line used to be amazing - I went through several years boasting to work colleagues about how reliable it was - could always get a train with barely any delays; they would even run on strike days somehow. That all changed in recent years but I think that’s indicative of the state of TFL as a whole, sadly.
Chorleywood is absolutely lovely, a real villagey feel and a wonderful community. I teach there and can vouch for Old Macs as a good nursery.
You can’t really go wrong living in Chorleywood, it’s a very highly sought after area and the schools and transport links are excellent.

Sorry just saw your comment about a seat - again as years went on I would often have to stand getting on at Ricky, but there were only ever a few people standing at that point and that’s a station down so I imagine it would be pretty easy to get a seat at CW.
