Saucepan & frypan set - stainless steel

Hi all

We currently have a set of pots and pans non stick, they're not looking thier best they were not very expensive so didn't expect them to last to long so was going to replace soon anyway, however I was reading online about non stick, teflon etc how dangerous they are regarding chemicals & that we should be using stainless steel or cast iron. The stainless steel set I've seen says 'non stick coating' the exterior of the pans is stainless steel...

Sorry if I sound a bit clueless about this but if anyone can recommend a stainless steel set that's great value for money I'd be greatful, just want to make sure I go for the right thing.

Thank you

We paid a reasonable amount of money for a ProCook set, but they were exceptionally good quality. And they sometimes have really, really good sales.

Unfortunately, they proved to just be too heavy for my disability, but I loved them whilst I had them.

Iirc they come with a long guarantee - 10 or 20 years.

My chef mate gets a lot of his stuff from them.

Le creuset , lots of good deals about at this time of year - we actually got ours from bloomin harrods about 7 years ago in Jan sales and still immaculate

If it says "non stick" that's usually the Teflon rubbish and forever chemicals that you want to avoid; they put it on steel now as well as aluminium.

I just bought a cast iron frying pan from the place linked below after I saw an advert demonstrating the pan doing a perfect fried egg, and it's non-stick without any rubbish in it. Alongside that, I have a full set of plain steel pans with encapsulated bases from Argos, because for most things you don't actually need those to be non-stick anyway. The only things I do that need non-stick are scrambled eggs and frying, so the cast iron frying pan was perfect for me. These aren't cheap per se but they're a lot less than Le Creuset:

Edited to add it arrived two weeks ago and I've used it three times and it's been great, as I realised that was unclear from my post.

Can I ask if you are on gas or electric?

Ikea 365 pans are great

Unfortunately, the order confirmation has vanished into the ether. I did come across an email from myself saying they had glass lids. Iirc we paid £200 in 2020.

Check out their most recent Trustpilot ratings to reassure yourself their quality hasn't dropped. As far as I am aware, they have been around for donkey's years and have an excellent reputation, so, hopefully, anything you order from them would be really top notch. I had to email about problems with a griddle and they were fast and helpful.

Chef friend said they're excellent if you go into their shops too. Will produce tomatoes for you to try different knife sets, etc.

I have ikea 365 and love them.

I have a set of Stellar stainless steel pans, saucepans, frying pan and casserole pans which I bought around 25 years ago. They are still in excellent condition, really good quality pans and I would recommend Stellar. Used every single day in our house and well worth the cost at the time (I bought them in the sales as the full.price was too dear for me)

Mespher · 29/12/2023 07:30

I have a Stellar stay cool stainless steel saucepan I am very pleased with.

Harts of Stur is a very good place to order cookware from, good prices and quick delivery and lots of choice, I usually order all kitchenware from there.
