Grout

I have white towels with white grout in my bathroom.
I'd really like the grout colour to be changed to a light grey colour. I just feel the white grout isn't bright white anymore and the tiles really show that up with them being white.
Has anyone done this before? Any recommendations? Can it be a DIY job?
I just want light grey, not black.

Thank you

I used an oscillating multi tool with grout remover bit to easily remove a load of grout. Then I just regrouted in a different colour.

It can be a DIY job. It depends on your skill level, and on how much time and patience you have available.

If the tiles are reasonably large, this will make the job easier as there will be a much shorter length of joint to deal with. With small tiles - metro tiles or, at one extreme, mosaic - it could take a very long time.

If the joints are staggered or irregular this will also make it much more challenging to get a good result. If they're aligned in a grid it's easier as you can just keep going on one line all across the wall, but if not you risk either leaving a bit of the old grout in place or going too far and damaging a tile as you approach a "T-junction" in the grout.

If your grout is in ok condition, I would use a grout pen. Much easier and cheaper than redoing the grout. We did this a few months ago, and it made such a difference. I don’t know how long it will last, but no signs of it rubbing off yet with cleaning the tiles. If you do buy a grout pen, make sure you buy extra nibs too.
