We are family of three looking to buy a house in Kings road, New Haw.
Any thoughts on neighbours and community ? Anti social behaviour etc. I will be travelling to London twice a week for work

Isn't it quite near where the Martian cylinders landed?

We don't find the Martians cause too much trouble these days. There's a giant shiny silver one in Woking Town centre and he's actually quite nice.

Kings Road is OK OP. It's close to New Haw shops but without being right by them and close to the Secondary School without being close enough for the traffic issues.

I would say though that it would probably fall into the more downmarket area of New Haw. It's fine but there are definitely nicer roads. It also depends on what you are comparing it to. A more downmarket area of a Surrey commuter belt village isn't quite the same as a more downmarket area of an inner city council estate. What are you moving from?

Some of that local area has been earmarked for regeneration. That could be demolition and rebuilding. I know Braeside was earmarked for this but I'm not sure about Kings Road or if it's even still likely to go ahead in the economic climate.

New Haw as a whole is a nice village that has some nice facilities, a community feel and good transport links. You're not walking distance to the train station from there though. What would your London travel plans be?

Aldo, primary and junior schools are excellent for that area. An in year place might be tricky on availability though. The Secondary school is big but good.

Thanks for your message. I am moving from Chiswick(renting), London as my family size grew so will definitely miss out on the greenery/trees in the street( Kings road doesn't have any trees). I will be travelling to london either from addlestone or west byfleet

  1. Towards the end of the road, there are some house with tin roofs, do you anything about that?
  2. On different posts within this website, people mentioned chavs issue in addlestone/new haw, any thoughts? My kid is 2 and will look to join school in that area.

Hi all, family of 3 (soon to be 4) thinking of moving to Queen Mary’s Drive (New Haw). Any thoughts on the street/area? We have a toddler at the moment so we want a safe place for our little ones with friendly neighbours and good schools.

Queen Mary's Drive is a good location. It's a busy road so you will get traffic, particularly at school run times, but it's a good position.

It's close to the shops and facilities and New Haw Primary is a very good school.

It's a nice family area.
