What colour instead of grey?

For hallways paint. And sofas. And living room walls? Want something neutral and no wallpaper. And don't want obvious stains with young kids on sofas. Is beige ok? What would you look for in paint colours?

Anything you like? Personally I love colour and have a different one in every room. Just painted the hallway and landing a lovely dusky pink. Living room is duck egg blue but I fancy a change soon and will probably go darker.

Is beige OK? Anything is OK if that's what you like.

I hope beige is okay, because that’s all my walls (a cream with red undertones actually).I personally prefer a neutral background and then add colour and texture in wall art and furnishings- I am both fickle about colours and lazy about home redecorating, so big colours on walls is a big no for me.

the challenge with neutrals is finding the shade you like - this can be really personal - and making sure you still like it in various lighting conditions. Lots of swatches on walls, but I found one I like in various light conditions and am using it throughout house for simplicity.

i would avoid a beige sofa if you have kids, though, unless it is a deep beige. I find slightly tweedy (so multiple thread colours) or slightly textured weaves are best for hiding stains. Dark colours can be just as bad for showing stains as super light, so mid tones usually better. Washable covers are your friend as well - I have some ultra high end sofas with removable washable linen, but also have one from ikea that I upgraded with covers from bemz. The high end sofas are way more comfortable, but the bemz covers are pretty smart and wash well.
