How to use 30-35cm gap in kitchen base units?

Currently designing our kitchen and looking for inspiration. See below for diagram, which is only part of a larger kitchen.

2 - fridge
3 and 4 = ovens
5 and 6 = appliance garage and open shelving, which will form a sort of breakfast prep area
8 = lemans base unit

Which leaves area 7, which, due to dimensions of the lemans, could be anywhere from 22-35cm wide. I don’t really want to make the breakfast prep area above smaller, therefore avoiding the gap at all. So, how would you fill it?

Sorry, unable to edit title. Gap can be 22-35cm (not 30-35)

I’m not sure you can place your oven next to your fridge. Could be safety issue re the appliances.
As for the gap, small pull out spice rack. I have one next to my stove, it has spices on the top shelf and oils below perfectly placed.

Re. Fridge and oven, they've already said that's fine. My hob is on the other side of the U shape that the kitchen forms and I'd planned to put spices there. I hadn't considered oils etc though, thanks for highlighting! Will gave to think about then too.

A wine rack.

Flymeaway4 · 15/12/2023 23:44

Already planned a wine rack elsewhere

Although, can never have too much wine I suppose!!

Oven and fridge fine next to each other
An open shelf or 2? Put your food processor or le Creuset on the shelf? Space for tray to be handy or chopping boards?

Dilbertian · 15/12/2023 23:50

Tray storage. Fit me that would be a perfect size for teatrays.

Talipesmum · 16/12/2023 00:01

Can’t tell how deep the space is but yes, tray or chopping board storage. They’re much better stored vertically if possible. Or thin flattish oven trays.

marmaladeandpeanutbutter · 16/12/2023 00:06

30cm is cupboard width. I have one that size. We keep the bin in it.

monpetitlapin · 16/12/2023 00:09

Pull-out oven tray storage for those thin oven trays that there's never a good place to store? Storage for chopping boards? I'd put long thin things in a long thin space.

Mombie · 16/12/2023 00:17

It is next to the cookers so it could be either:
Where your spices/oils and even cooking utensils could go in a pull out unit or drawers. I have drawers on either side of my hob and they house utensils (top), spices and oil (mid) and tins/jars of sauces and food.
it’s really handy having everything right next to you when your cooking.

Seaside3 · 16/12/2023 01:39

Can you not stack your ovens? Then you have a more useable?

littleannennt · 16/12/2023 02:03

Trays/chopping boards/cookbooks/baskets with dog/cat food (if you have pets?)

Britinme · 16/12/2023 02:04

Pull-out bin and recycle bin, one behind the other. We have that below a counter where I prep food and it's so efficient.

caringcarer · 16/12/2023 02:31

I've got spice drawers I use a lot to keep herbs in mostly. I've got a wine fridge that holds 6 bottles of wine vertically.

Rainbowshit · 16/12/2023 06:02

We put a mini wine fridge in the leftover random space we had in our kitchen.

Reallybadidea · 16/12/2023 08:08

Wine/drinks fridge would be my choice.

Sgtmajormummy · 16/12/2023 09:12

I’d put a pull-out unit to hide away clutter like chopping boards, tea trays and baking trays, as it’s next to the ovens and breakfast preparation areas.
(Today I learned what a Lemans unit is!)

Smerk · 16/12/2023 09:29

22cm isn't very much, too small for a pull out cupboard thing I think. I vote a towel rail that pull out because mine are always dropped on my oven handles and it looks a bit messy

Flymeaway4 · 16/12/2023 11:15

Wow, so many suggestions! Thank you everyone.

so, I was avoiding posting the whole kitchen plan, as I worried that might get confusing, but I think greater context is needed, so plan is below. The main other things are:

1 - freezer
9 - dishwasher
10 - sink
11 & 12 - bins
14 - hob
20 - wine rack
21-24 - larders and baking area

Spices and oils I think I need near the hob. This will also be my main prep area. But baking trays, tea tray, tea towels need thinking about, so they could be a good shout.

any other thoughts on overall layout welcome too!

You need a 2nd dishwasher!

Flymeaway4 · 16/12/2023 11:43

We are considering swapping the lemans for a 2nd dishwasher (unit 8). That still will leave a 30cm gap though, my current dilemma
