Need advice about water damage, help

My parents' home is now empty and will need to be sold. My brother and I are both really busy and it's not in a great state of repair. During the recent bad weather, the rain has leaked in through the hall ceiling above the front door, there is now a massive crack about 100 cm long along the plasterboard, water dripping onto the floor every time it rains. I think the fascia board on the outside may be cracked under the weight of weeds/moss in the gutter and is letting the rain in. I am quite annoyed with my brother as I was going to get a firm in to do the gutters earlier this year and he said he would clean them himself, but did not bother his backside, obviously. I feel as if I've been left to deal with this myself and I don't know who to contact, but will need to be ASAP to stop it getting much worse. Is it a roofer, a builder, or what? I don't have a great deal of time to wait around in an empty house for tradesmen atm. Any idea about costs too - eyewatering?

Google soffits, facia and guttering replaced in the area where the house is and some names should come up.
We’ve had someone who just does these replacements do ours on a previous house, and a roofer do them on this house, but we were having the roof done too. I hope you can get something sorted and it doesn’t cause too much more damage.

Gutter cleaning is about £25
New boards etc about £100 for a small patch

Then you need to patch the area.

To tackle that leak, I'd recommend reaching out to a roofing professional. They're usually the go-to for issues like cracks in the plasterboard and potential problems with the fascia board. It's a more direct route than waiting for a builder to assess.

As for the costs, yeah, sometimes they can be a bit eye-watering. It might be worth getting a few quotes from local roofers. If you're in a rush, explain the situation, and they might be able to prioritize or give you a quick estimate over the phone.

And hey, siblings, right? Sorry to hear about the gutter situation, but now that it's urgent, a professional touch might be the best bet.

Consider looking into local experts in Murrieta who deal with flood damage, Murrieta – they might have additional insights for your specific situation.

It wasn't a gutter problem anyway! Turned out the actual roof was leaking round the lead flashing - nightmare, very expensive but fixed now. Locking up and leaving badly maintained houses in a northern winter just doesn't work!
