iRobot Roomba

Hi
I invested in a Roomba and Braava after a big renovation on the house and having hard floors.

I was very chuffed with them but after 3 months I noticed all the newly painted skirting had black lines 1cm from the bottom.

Where the robots couldn't reach , the skirting is unmarked.

The marks do not wash off.

I've complained to irobot , and after 4 months their customer service have wrongly concluded its not the robots.

But it most certainly is!

Does anyone have the same problem ? How do you overcome it?

I love my robots but this scuffing is really an issue!

Any suggestions would help please

magic eraser?

Masking tape on the walls and the Romba see if it keeps happening. If so look elsewhere, if not remove from the roomba and see what happens? If it marks and you want to keep them just tape the bits that rub ?

It was rather expensive washable paint on the skirtings, and nothing seems to work...I may have to repaint them myself as the painter will charge a lot and maybe its easy wortk.

but if i do repaint... and i get those same scruffs ill be heartbroken :(

Masking tape? i was looking at felt sticks ons (under sofa pads etc) , thick enough to keep a distance between Roomba and skirting.

I have a Roomba and also have these marks. It’s very annoying - though still not enough for me to ditch it as it saves me so much time and I always have nice clean carpets.

I feel the same! though Im seeing it anyone has come up with a solution.

i find it so hard to believe that Roomba were saying they had never received such complaints

It’s definitely the Roomba. Don’t know how they can deny it, it’s clear as anything. My skirting boards don’t lie!

Gotta love expensive companies denying their products are faulty.

OP, have you tried a small amount of WD40 left on for a minute or two to remove the marks?

It can be used in the most unusual of ways.

Ariela · 29/11/2023 15:38

I would buy some wide draught excluder, stick round the bits of Roomba you can without fouling the buttons/clips/sensors/whatever. Repaint the skirting, cover with a coat of matt varnish (which hopefully looks OK) , and you should be ok after that

WD40 is a great idea!
