Can anyone recommend a building control approved inspector for an extension/renovation in London?

My question is pretty much encapsulated in the thread title. The location of the project is inner north London.

Anyone? I'd also be interested in structural engineer recommendations.

Why not the local authority inspector?

The building inspector is employed and appointed by the local authority - at a cost to you. There are planning consultants, architectural technologists, and structural engineers. Have chat with whoever is drawing up the plans for you.

You don't get to appoint that inspector yourself.

We used Complete Building Control and they were fine

This isn't correct: you can appoint your own private sector Approved Inspector for building control (and most people do).

Just ensure there is no connection between builder and architect and the inspector.

Which there frequently is so we have always put in any tender and contract that the LA inspector will be utilised. Amazing how some contractors then decline to tender.
