How to prepare house for plaster removal

Help please, I am totally clueless!

Our landlord is getting two walls in our downstairs replastered due to damp.

We asked him to ask the workman what we need to do in preparation, but it's hard to tell if we're missing anything as we've got no experience whatsoever. The only experience I had with anything similar is sanding floorboards and getting the chimney swept, but the workman says removing plaster is much, much worse .

We're moving out for a few days while it's going on.

Our house is a typical 3 bed Victorian terrace, so not massive, and the downstairs is mostly open plan. They are doing one wall in the lounge/diner (which also has the staircase, which is completely open), and one wall in the kitchen (which leads through to a utility area (just a doorway with no door) and then a bathroom with a door.

We're moving all our children's toys and television upstairs, and then going to cover the furniture, bookcase full of books with dust sheets.

We have also thought about sealing up the staircase with dust sheets and masking tape too.

In the kitchen, our plan is to remove all our small appliances, condiment bottles etc. from the surfaces, box them up, and place the boxes in the downstairs bathroom. Is this enough? Will dust still get into the bathroom and then into the boxes?

What about the kitchen cupboards? Our landlord thinks we don't need to cover them up, but would dust get into the cupboards? What about opened food packets (cereal, pasta, biscuits), will they be safe? Should we tape up or cover the kitchen cupboards or is that overkill?

Is there anything I might have missed?

Yes the dust will get everywhere. Be prepared to have to deep clean afterwards and close and tape up all your upstairs doors as well.

ask the builders to vacuum with their industrial machine which they should have - plaster dust can ruin a domestic hoover.

expect the worst and hope its not too bad!

Tape up cupboards, dust sheet and take up everything if there is an open staircase then tape that up too. The builders might need access to water and a toilet so you need to take that into account too.
