Black mould and deposit

We’re about to vacate our cold damp rented house. Keeping the mould and damp at bay has been a challenge in the three years we’ve rented it, with dehumidifiers, wiping down windows and cleaning mould of walls weekly as it began to sprout.

When our furniture was moved black mould was revealed behind wardrobes and book cases. We have done our best with cillit bang spray but it has left the wallpaper coming away from the walls.

I don’t see what else we could have done but I’m worried the landlord will say he has to re wallpaper and keep our deposit, any advice?

Am having to wash every single item that was in wardrobes, now we’re in our new dry warm house I’m realising how fusty and damp all our clothes smelt!

A question: How would landlord know the wallpaper coming off isn’t from the damp condition of the property rather than your cleaning?

As cleaning mould off would not normally remove wallpaper unless there was a pre-existing problem like damp.

If you have proof of the mould, photos etc, put in a claim for all the extra costs YOU'VE had but at the very least refuse any attempt at keeping the deposit he tries, it's not up to you to pay for his poor maintenance.
