Hello,

I am looking for a green shade to match with polished pebble? We want to paint the wall behind the sofa and chimney breast wall, we love polished pebble but trying to warm up the room a little

Any suggestions would.be appreciated!

Thank you!

Green's quite a cool colour so it's hard to say if it'll warm up the room ... but you could consider a muted green moving towards blue/grey, such as Crushed Pine 5? Or something lighter like Moorland Magic 6?

Is the sofa opposite the chimney breast, or with its back to it? I couldn't work out from your post whether you're planning to paint one wall or two. Would strongly recommend doing only one wall - if you do two opposite walls, it will make the room look narrow.

You can also paint just the alcoves on either side of the chimney breast in a darker colour, or put wallpaper on them - that looks nice I think, in a Victorian kind of way.

If you are looking for warmth then maybe an olive shade like Overtly Olive rather than a fresh green. I’d agree to just do one wall if you are going for a contrast.
This site is good for seeing what shades look like in different lights, it has most of the Dulux shades.

Thank you @Karmatime & @Squiblet
That overtly olive shade looks beautiful

I have attached a pic of the wall I am thinking about behind sofa. I have these neautral floral prints which I love they have pink, green and brown in, but they just blend into the wall, looks sparse and cold

I forgot to mention room is north facing

A deep green would look nice with those pictures and your sofa. We have green as an accent wall in a north facing bedroom and it works well. Our room has lots of small mullioned windows. We are rural and it really draws the outside countryside in somehow.

@Honeyroar that's a lovely shade do you know what one it is? Thanks

No I’m sorry I can’t remember. It was 12 years ago. It was a dark sage green colour.

Laurasanford111 · 08/11/2023 13:41

Now I'm wondering if to not go with a green and instead a colour like cookie dough or soft truffle, oh I'm so confused haha!
It's all open plan downstairs so if we repainted the whole living room we would have to do dining room etc too

The Dulux site suggests teaming Polished Pebble with Emerald Glade or Forest Shade. The latter might be closed to the warm green you are aiming for. Emerald Glade is lovely, but not warm. Alternatively Ballerina Dance if you wanted to pick out the pink from the prints:

The tricky thing in a north facing room is that a grey like Polished Pebble will always look cold, but pairing it with a yellow based green (which would warm the room up nicely) might look a bit odd because the undertone of the green wouldn't match. Maybe Lichen or Vert de Terre (from F&B/colour matched), they're sort of neutral greens so hopefully wouldn't look too cool?

Would it be doable doing the whole room I'm Overtly Olive, if you like that one? I know that sounds like a pain with downstairs being open plan though!

@biscuitcat thank you, yes just with how the layout is downstairs being open plan it won't work 😞

I'll have a look at them 2 colours you recommended thank you

I think Dulux have an app where you can use your camera and focus on the wall and it will show your preferred shade in situ. I haven’t explained it very well but it’s quite useful.

@warriorofhopelessness thank you I will check that out!

I think Green Smoke from F&B would be lovely?

scrunchmum · 08/11/2023 20:05

Have a look at F&B lichen, I feel it's warmer than some of their other greens
