Has anyone done it? How is the experience?

No, because how would you prove you weren't money laundering?

It’s not possible if you need a mortgage. At the very least the bank will want to ensure the property is legally transferred to you.

Without a mortgage, do you really want to run the risk of not completing the transaction correctly & lawfully?

Technically yes but it is a bad idea.

I'm a solicitor and I wouldn't do my own conveyancing, it is an important and specialist matter. It is also extremely expensive if a mistake is made!

Don't scrimp on conveyancing fees.

Other than saving the conveyancing fee, why would you want to? Even lawyers I know won’t do their own conveyancing, and it’s a legal requirement for a mortgage company in any case. You could land yourself with an unsellable property and expensive liabilities.

If you need a mortgage, the bank won't let you. Although you are paying them, the conveyencer really works for the lender. It shows them the purchase is viable. It justifies that they will be able to get their money back.

Yeah, you can. And you can probably take your own appendix out, too, but wouldn't you rather get an expert to do it?
