Loft conversion - any great ideas?

We are going to be getting our 3 bed semi loft converted into a multi-use/office type room.

Have you had your loft converted? Is there anything in particular you'd recommend doing as part of the conversion, either that you did do or wish you had have done? Or any tips in general about what really works in the space you have?

Thanks :-)

If you have storage space under the eaves and are not having built in cupboards etc, have more than one access door, so you can access the space all the way along. Have it properly floored and finished - useful for storing suitcases, out of season stuff etc.

Also sockets on landing. Even if you have a cordless hoover, you might not always have it. Might want to use a carpet cleaning machine,, or plug in a lamp etc. It's easy to put them in while the electrics are being done.

Get some network cable run up, too, when you have the electrics put in, gives you more options if WiFi doesn't quite reach.

Weve just bought a house with a concerted loft, but there's no storage and tons of unusable space because of low ceiling height! We're having a stud wall put in to build a storage room - we'll lose some floor space but nothing usable.

Window over the stairs is also good to let the heat out I think. Well I'm sure it helps mine anyway, all the heat rising goes out it instead of into loft.

We used 12 PIR everywhere.
The original sloping roof faces the sun. The builders insulated all the useable area. DH crawled around on his knees to insulate the rest - the roof that slopes down to meet the ceiling below that we have as storage area.

Out of interest, did the builders just use 12 PIR or other insulation in conjunction with it? Thanks

There was lots of rock wool used too - stuffed under the floorboards (by us and the builders), I think it was just pushed in wherever there was space!
