I cannot make up mind - what should I go for?? Has anyone recently made a decision on this? Thoughts please?

Well I went for plank in my conservatory because I prefer it!

But if you'd like some logic
I already have plank, tiles and carpet in my other rooms and I didn't want to add yet another variation
And I think herringbone & chevron styles will date, simply because they are so very popular at the moment.

Herringbone and chevron, you see it in houses that are hundreds of years old.

So it might go out of fashion, but unlikely. It's stood the test of time.

Diagonal lines make small rooms look busy and fussy.

Herringbone is great fits with both contemporary and traditional

don’t like chevron

In smaller spaces I prefer plank. Herringbone can look stunning in a large, wide room. But only with real wood and done well. Otherwise it can just like a bit cheap/fussy in my opinion.

Plank. Not keen on herringbone anymore. Although I really love a parquet floor.

I missed the section and worried you were talking about baby names...

Agree with pp that it needs to be real wood if you're going with Herringbone, and fitted really well. Bear in mind that it costs significantly more due to the higher labour costs, as well as higher cost per m2.

I like the idea of full size planks laid diagonally in a narrow space. It also solves the problem of having a thinner plank on the edges if your space isn't exactly divisible by the width of the planks.

I was initially attracted to Chevron but think the novelty might wear off, whereas Herringbone is classic.

For cost reasons I'm likely to end up with laminate so will probably go with diagonal planks in the hall and kitchen, tiles in the bathroom and carpet everywhere else.
