Options for kitchen fitting?

How do we go about installing or fitting a readymade kitchen we ordered from DIY Kitchens or IKEA? Do we need a kitchen fitter? What would be the approx cost for this? How can we minimize our costs?

This will be in greater london area.

Well, you either fit it yourself, or get a fitter. We paid approx £2200 two years ago for installation of our DIYK kitchen. We're in SE London/Kent.

That was the cost for just fitting the units. Plumbing etc was extra.

i dont know about ikea but we got our own fitter for DIY kitchen but mine was my son in law whos a cabinet maker / joiner and my grandson and he charged us £800 two year ago so mum in law rate took them two days to install cupboards and cut the worktops into place fit sink etc, Wickes qouted £1500 for instillation on top of kitchen price

and yes plastering electrics tiling flooring was extra, in total a £3000 kitchen cost us £6000

We've just renovated and our carpenter, who has also installed kitchens, did ours. His other work was fabulous and we had no issues at all.

Our neighbours got a 'fitter'. It was a newer style kitchen and the fitter walked off in a huff because he couldn't fit it correctly!

Whoever you get, ensure they are competent and check which brand of kitchens they have fitted before. Ideally, get location recommendations.
