Hi all,

please can I have your thoughts on what colour/wall paper to put behind my tv?

The room is very light and feels washed out so I’m looking for some colour/ texture here.

any advice would be great appreciated :)

thanks

I went dark. It means the TV blends in, so it's not the main feature.

Feature walls are a bit 2010s I’m afraid. I like the panelling option that the PP shared.

Feature walls can be lovely, try not to give a fuck that someone thinks they're old fashioned.

I have one very dark green wall in my loving room because
a. I have a gold sideboard that looked shite against a white wall or any light wall colour
b. I have a fabulous wall light that needed a dark wall behind it
c. I wanted the TV to blend more into the background and not be a feature itself.
d. I didn't want my whole living room to be dark green.

It works for me and makes the other things pop that I did want to stand out.

They are a bit '2010' . But so is following an interior fashion. If you like something, go for it. Your home should reflect you as a person, not the latest trend.

Feature walls might be a bit 2010s but panelling is going to date as a bit early 2020s! Everything dates eventually.

I do like a dark wall behind a large TV to swallow it up and lessen its overall impact on the room.

lol on the feature walls comment but liking fake panelling 😂

gluenotsoup · 29/10/2023 10:36

I think it’s texture you need rather than colour. I’d try panelling maybe, keep it light, but more importantly add a few things in that area, like a tall plant, a couple of lamps , a picture maybe on the door wall. Can’t see because of the photo angle, but a rug, textured cushions/ blankets etc. I think it’s just a bit flat and needs softening, but otherwise is looking lovely 🙂

Thanks again everyone.

I hope I didn’t offend anyone - I had a couple of feature walls myself c 2010 🤣 I think there are very few occasions when they work well, if you want to add colour then I’d just go all out the paint all 4 walls.

a panelling feature like that would look nice I think, sure it will date like feature walls did, but then you can replace it with something else in 10 years time! Maybe get a feature wall then… 😁

This is a really really nice space (gorgeous kitchen!) but very monochrome - I think maybe some darker tones of green or blue (cant tell base colour of kitchen units and maybe some blush /dusky rose hints.

Agree the others texture is really what's needed possibly in the form of storage and panelling. This isn't quite it but you get the idea.

You could paly around and customise to your specs and paint a nice soothing statement colour (tonal similar but 2-4 tones darker than kitchen cabinets)
Then in the shelving you can put visually interesting things.
An ammonite or nice vase or whatever

You need built in cupboards across the wall. It looks bland and soul less. Have you got any nice artwork to display?
