Electricity meter

Economy 7 electricity meter installed Tuesday. Hot water tank. Meter works by heating water during 7 hours of off peak. However, water isn't that hot. Before I had this, hot water at hottest was scalding and now its like basically hot enough go have a shower, probably not for a bath.

Is your water heating method the same as previously (electric immersion heater in tank?) or has it changed as a result of getting this new meter?

With Economy 7 it's common to have two immersion heaters - a main one at the bottom of the tank that heats the whole tank from the off-peak electricity supply, and a backup one at the top that can heat a small amount of water from the peak supply as a kind of "top-up" if you need extra. It may be that your immersion heater(s) are faulty, set to the wrong temperature, or not wired in correctly. Or just isn't set to come on for long enough.

I will preface this by saying that I have zero experience with economy 7 meters and have, in fact, just had to google what they are 😂

However, we have a water tank at home and it has a little thermostat dial on it so we can control how hot the water actually gets.

Does your tank have one of those?

@LouiseHorscroft it's awful. I wouldn't recommend anyone to get one. Have had hot water misery since it was installed, it's awful.
