Does anyone have cheap wallpaper that's stood the test of time?

I've never had wallpaper and am not knowledgeable about it. I've been looking up recommended brands but the pattern I'm chasing is fairly old fashioned and the version I like best is a cheap wallpaper brand, Galerie (G12276). I haven't recieved the sample yet so I may not like it in reality, but my question is how to tell if a wallpaper will stand the test of time. I'm paying to have it put up properly, I'm not in any rush, and I'm happy to pay more if it's worth it but only for the right pattern.

I would ask my decorator for advice on quality and durability. For pattern and whether it will go out of fashion: well, it will. Quickly. Only alternative is a pattern that was never in fashion! My walls had to be papered because they had been before, so couldn't just be repainted. We had lining paper put up and then painted. It's not very robust. Just as we were having that done, a product to seal the walls so that residual paste doesn't spoil the paint appeared, so next time we had the walls painted.

Thanks, I'm not concerned about something going out of fashion. I'm choosing an old style pattern that goes with our taste as opposed to something trendy. My kitchen is a mix of the eras of my own early childhood of Mum's and Nan's kitchens. It was more a worry about quality of product. However, since posting this morning I've spoken with the decorator and have been to a wall paper shop so I'm feeling less at sea with it.

I love the sound of your kitchen!

I'm sure your decorator will emphasise that an important thing is the quality of the wall surface so you might want to arrange a visit to see if you need any plaster skimming / repairs etc.

There are also products that you can paint over wallpaper to make them washable so perhaps it's worth asking the decorator about those too. Here's one: https://www.wallpaper-uk.com/polyvine-decorators-varnish

Thanks@Lavenderosa, it's such a comforting homey space! And thanks for the suggestions.

I've had cheap and expensive- the main difference is the finish and thickness of paper. If you have smooth walls you can go for which ever one you like. If your walls are not great a heavier, matt finish paper tends to disguise imperfections better.

My biggest revelation was paste the wall paper- soooo much easier than faffing with a papering table!

That's reassuring. After the decorator came by i went to a shop to look at wallpaper and the one in interested in seems really fine compared to the rest, and my walls are good, so I'm all set!
