Leaking tap

My kitchen tap is leaking from somewhere - see the puddles of water round the base. Do I just:

Turn off the water at the stop cock

Unscrew the joint between the two taps with a spanner

Then what? Something about washers? Are all rubber washers the right diameter and I can just go to B&Q to get a generic tap washer?

Instructions gratefully received!

A washer is 10 p ish - google how to undo the top of your tap - turn water off at the mains first / replace washer - so easy and screw everything back on again

Unscrew at the bottom of each tap by the looks of it

NOT the middle bit between taps

The white bit at the top of each tap should come off

Then unscrew the screw to get to the washer

Change washer

Put back together

If you don't know what size of washer it is without taking the tap apart, buy a bag of assorted ones, there are a few different sizes.

Wipe it and find out where the water is coming from , there is no point taking the taps off if its leaking from the middle or visa versa.

Thank you very much for all the replies!💐

So, we turned off the mains and drained the taps.

Then realised that as we have a hot water cylinder we needed to work out how to turn that off (lived in this house for less than a year and never needed to do that)

Googled how to do that, went in loft, turned off hot water

Drained the hot taps

Unscrewed the main bit between the taps and removed the main mixer tap bit

Discovered there didn't seem to be a washer

Realised that the joint wasn't very tightly screwed on (probably because repeated moving of the mixer tap from left to right, which it is meant to do, probably makes the joint go a bit looser over time) and maybe it was just that.

Screwed it on more tightly.

Just checked now and...no pooling water and problem fixed!

What a faff for something that turned out to be very simple! 🤦
