Bathroom renovation and shower pump disaster- advice please!!

I have just had my bathroom renovated, and last weekend the contractor was showing me the (almost) completed room, and turned the basin tap on. To my amazement, the shower pump started up. The house had the pump there when I moved in, but it just fed the shower (which was fantastic). It transpires that, without asking, consulting or informing me, they have added the bath and basin to the pump circuit- 'to give better pressure'. There was nothing wrong with the gravity fed pressure to the basin before- the bath was a bit slow to fill, but we rarely used it, so it wasn't a particular concern. I am now faced with the pump making an infernal noise when washing my hands or cleaning my teeth, and I am beyond upset about it. I cannot fathom the reasoning. My new bathroom looks superb, but the pump noise has ruined it for me. Does anyone have experience of this? I think rectifying it, and putting things back as they were would result in pretty much ripping out the whole room and starting again as the plumbing is beneath the underfloor heating and floor tiles, and possibly also in the walls. Do I have any redress against the contractor, or should I live with it and aim to somehow make the pump quieter? I am also concerned about what happens should the pump fail- it is 10+ years old to my knowledge. Any advice or experiences would be much appreciated.

They did this in my loft conversion and it annoys me immensely as the pump is so loud, but luckily it's not the main bathroom. Our loft pump has a light switch type on/off button, so I turn off the pump at the switch and only turn it on again when someone wants a shower. We tried silencing the pump with extra insulation and boxing but it didn't make much difference.

My parents have this - intentionally - and it drives me bananas.

No proper advice, but I would be furious and demanding redress.

Presumably it means the pump is going to wear more quickly too. I have had to change both shower pumps in the last 12 months. No idea how old they were but they don't last forever. Not having access to plumbing & pipes in a bathroom without ripping apart the bathroom is really poor though. Could that not have been rectified as part of the renovation?
