Listed Building Enforcement Notice

We got a letter from the local council about a listed building enforcement investigation. It’s a Grade II listed building in a conservation area. The landlord apparently knocked a pipe through the front wall of the building without consent. He also moved the internal layout and removed original doors (so he could turn a one bed into a two bed). This happened before we moved in.

The council want access to investigate these alterations and say they are highly unlikely to provide retrospective consent to the new pipe and there’s probably a fine for the internal works. The landlord might have to change it back. Obviously as tenants this is nothing to do with us. Where do we stand/what should we do?

You do nothing personally and pass the letter on to your landlord.

Agree it is for your ll to resolve. Pass all correspondence on. However enforcement, if/when it happens, may well require you to move out.
