Corner plot dropped kerb

Just after some advice please and opinions.

We are on a corner plot and looking at creating a driveway on the front of our property.

Checked with the council and it doesn’t need planning as it’s on a non A road etc but reading the document the council have sent after my enquiry it looks like I need 4.8m from house to the pavement for them to agree. I also need to take into account the corner and be 10m from the edge of the kerb.
I’m 10cm short on the 4.8m.

Do I even have a chance in getting this approved or am I wasting my £200 inspection fee?

We’d remove all hedges to improve visibility etc and every single house on the corners on our road have driveways shorter and closer to the junction than ours. I know this isn’t relevant but surely it sets some sort or precedent?

I think you need to call to check. We had ours done in part recently. The council was redoing the pavement so their contractors approached every house and asked if they wanted one added or extended. I wasn't allowed to extend the full distance I wanted due to street furniture being in the way.

We definitely don't have the sort of sizes available that you do. If we ever actually create a drive way we would be parking at an angle. We may not as our main intention was to put people off parking across the dropped kerb that is next to our property and blocking access to other properties and our side access.

I’ve called them but they just say follow the guide lines and apply. It’s only £200 but seems a waste if they absolutely stick to their rules. Many houses down our road def don’t have 4.8 and park at an angle to get the car on.

may have to bite the bullet, try our luck and hope we have a sympathetic inspector

How do you access your garage now? Surely there is a dropped curb already?

Just speak to them. They will most likely say that if you broadly comply, all but 10cm, then they will sign it off anyway. We had a similar situation with a fence - it need to comply with a restriction, but the finished scheme didn't quite comply. As I said, they said we had endeavoured to comply, and broadly speaking had, so they had no interest in forcing a change.

It’s storage only. Has a garage door for easy access but we couldn’t fit a car in there
