Where would you move?

Hi there, a bit of background. I'm a 30 year old woman with no family. I work fully remote and am on 32k.

I have £60k deposit saved and look to buy a house soon. Definitely not keen on a flat, maybe a 2 bed terraced with a nice garden. My budget is c£200k.

Which city/big town would you move to if you were me?

Safety is important and I do like a place where a lot going on socially.

Thank you!

North, South, East, West?

Literally aywhere, but I'm guessing North (West) would be more affordable.

Plenty in Leeds for your budget.

I would buy something like this in Nottingham OP- I'm originally from the area and it has a lot going for it on a tight budget. It's very well connected and central too.

This is nicely done up and a lovely area- walkable into the city

Sheffield?

Newcastle, best night life anywhere. People friendly and excellent public transport. Houses and cost of living lower than anywhere else. Hadrians wall, North Yorkshire, cheviots, Scotland, Northumberland, beaches, castles, Lake District, pennines, best shopping, theatres, gigs, huge music scene, cinemas, history, student scene, ferry to Europe, airport, main train line to London, river, bridges, culture, I could go on all day. Newcastle is so underrated. It's not a popular choice because it's a lot further north than you think - 100 miles north of Leeds - and it's the only big city in England which doesn't have a motorway going to it. So it's a bit isolated. But for me that's a good thing and a reason why it hasn't lost its identity. Biggest negative is the high unemployment which is why I moved south 20 years ago 😪

Have a look at Leeds. My son moved there a few months ago and it's incredible
