LVT questions before I commit

Looking at getting LVT across most of my house, replacing carpets that have been wrecked by 5 years of babies/toddlers. I want to be as sure as possible it's the best decision because it feels like a LOT of money.

Couple of things I've been wondering:
-We live in a terrace and the stairs adjoin the connecting wall, is it going to be much louder than carpet?
-If so can you successfully put a stair runner over LVT?
-I'm confident LVT is the right option for the lounge/dining/stairs because of the amount of wear and tear & spillages, but I'm less sure about the bedroom. If you have LVT in the bedroom has it felt cold (both temperature and look-wise)? I am tempted to carpet my bedroom, I just think I'd prefer it, but will it look strange if the rest of the house is LVT?

Thank you :)

We had hard floors upstairs once but for our current house we’ve had hard floors downstairs and carpet on stairs and landing and in most bedrooms. I prefer carpet on stairs as it is less slippy if feet are wet (experience gained after a torn ligament) but I guess you could get non slip bathroom vinyl. You could get a big rug to cosy up a bedroom. I don’t think it matters if there’s some carpet and some hard floors, it’s a v common and traditional look that has stood test of time. And vinyl might also be noisy on stairs as you say. Will you have teenagers coming in at all hours within the expected life of the vinyl?

I dont see how you will put LVT on the stairs? We have LVT to the ground floor except lounge and find it great. I would say its not really noiser unless I'm wearing heels! We dont have runners but we have a couple of rubber backed mats in the hall to wipe feet.

The only carpet we have is on the stairs. Runner with stair rods. Living room and bedrooms have rugs.

We didn’t want bedrooms so can’t comment but we went for Amtico the whole of downstairs. It was fitted by a professional and it looks insane. I am so in love. It’s not loud (I don’t think) doesn’t feel cold underfoot. It’s very thin though so where it runs to tile in the hallway we have a slight height difference (you can get an appropriate bar though) sorry I can’t answer any questions but I just wanted to join in with how lovely it is! 🤣

@lilyblue5 That's great to hear as the design I've reserved is Amtico!

Having slept on it I think I am going to go with it throughout as it's quite a narrow terrace, rooms are small and I think different types of floor is going to look odder than it would in a big house. We don't have a hallway, the front door opens straight into the living room and the stairs are right opposite so I think for our layout having LVT in the living room and a carpeted stair is going to jar. Rugs and possibly a runner will have to be the way forward if necessary. Thanks all for your input, it's helped me to think it through!
