Electric or gas shower?

Purchased a property with one bathroom and over the bath electric shower.
The plan is to keep the bath and due to an age of the shower, it would need to be replaced sooner rather than later.

What would be the better option longer term, mixer or electric shower? I'm thinking about the need to replace gas heating systems eventually. What would you do?

I was all electric a few years ago. I then had gas central heating put in but didn't change the shower, left it electric.

But it was a miserable shower, not very powerful.
This year, l have had the most beautiful, powerful, lots of water gas shower put in its place. It has completely changed me showering.
I had to have a new pipe put from the boiler to the shower, but it was worth it.

If you have a combo boiler it’s cheaper to have the shower run from the boiler. If you have a hot water cylinder it then it can go either way. If there’s a few if you to shower heating the tank of water is more efficient. If there’s just one of you showering every couple of days the electric shower is cheaper

We replaced what we thought was a reasonable electric shower with a gas one a while ago and I still stand under it every single day and think 'this is so good'

It will be used by one adult every day.
I only had gas shower once in my life years ago and can't really remember it that well! Electric is okay but the pressure never is that good and I always wonder if it is down to it being electric or just cheap model I have been using in rented house.

I was thinking about the requirement to replace gas boilers with the new heat source pumps and complications if I had gas shower then? Would I need to replace it with electric or I could have either of them then?

I personally wouldn't worry about the boiler/heat pump issue, it's many years away and any existing boiler won't need to be changed until it can't be repaired.

I've changed both showers from electric to gas this year, I'm hoping to see an impact on the electricity bill!
