Would Property Factors Building Insurance pay for Subsidence/Foundation

I live in the first floor of a tenenent building and the floors in my flat slope and I have heard this could be caused by Subsidence or Foundation Problems. If it was that would my Property Factors Building Insurance pay for it. I literally can’t afford thousands of pounds to pay for it and the thought of it is literally making me ill to the point where I can’t eat or sleep for worrying about it.

How old is the building, and is this new? Sometimes floors in older buildings can slope a little due to settlement- this is different to subsidence.

Is there cracking? Are the sloping floors causing issues with doors opening?

You will likely be covered by insurance but the floors sloping in itself wouldn't necessarily be an issue unless v severe. Many properties have a degree of historic distortion due to settlement.

Most insurance policies have a 1k minimum excess for subsidence, and investigations go on for a minimum of a year. I work in subsidence investigation and wouldn't want to go through a claim unless absolutely necessary.

If you call your insurers they may be able to advise.

The building I imagine is over a hundred years old.

The best thing is to contact the factors for advice.
I strongly suspect that this is historical settlement rather than subsidence. Why? Presuming one of the flats in the building has been sold in the past few years, the home report would have picked up subsidence in the building.

Thank you I imagine you are right about that. I know someone moved in to the flat upstairs recently so I would think that would have shown up.
