I’m in search of advice on how to decide on where to live.
I’m currently renting in south wales after completing my Uni degree, however this isn’t where I want to buy a house and start a family.
The issue is I don’t want to move back to north wales, where all of my family lives, but when I do have my own children I would like to be near so that visiting would be easy and they can have a close relationship. Has anyone raised children far away from family and how did you find it??

Chester? Manchester? Liverpool?

Cardiff? If you like cities because there will be more opportunities there for yourself and future children

How soon are you planning to have children?

As a pp said, Manchester, Liverpool or Chester are close to north wales.

I lived 5 hrs away from my parents when I had my dc, it was fine, we'd spend holidays with them and whilst I was on mat leave I saw them quite frequently. They were never going to be hands on grandparents anyway, so wouldn't have offered any practical support even if they lived next door so I just made sure I had a good support structure in place when I went back to work.

After thinking about and talking to my husband, wee don’t think our families would be hands on and we wouldn’t want them to be. They all work full time and they have their hobbies which I wouldn’t want to take away from them.

If you are a traditional sort of person, rural Shropshire is lovely. If I didn’t live here, that’s where I would like to be.
