Kardean Flooring or similar

Hi, does anyone know if there are any cheaper alternatives to Kardean which look similar? We're looking for something that can be used in Kitchen, lounge & bathroom (though will mix and match if needed) I'd also ideally like to be able to use a steam mop if possible but don't know if that's feasible. TIA.

I’ve got quickstep which is great but not sure on whether it’s cheaper.

We're having Invictus which is a little cheaper. (www.invictus.co.uk)

Thanks, I'll have a look into both. It seems like a mine field!

We are having the same dilemma. Think we are going with moduleo roots collection. There is also Polyflor Camaro collections. There are actually lots more lesser know LVT brands.

JesusMaryAndJosephAndTheWeeDon · 12/09/2023 14:07

We thought moduleo looked better but we haven't got around to getting it installed yet.

Same here, also trying to find a concrete answer as to which is better, the click fit tile or glue down tile...

I'm exhausted researching!

We've got a combination of tiles, karndean, laminate and linoleum. I do love the karndean in our kitchen and I feel it was truly worth the (huge amount of) money and it still looks literally as new 7 years in. Our laminate has been pretty good, one my husband fitted, one we got fitted, probably about half the price of the karndean or less, and to be fair it is holding up pretty well 3+ years in. My £60 sale rack lino in the bathroom has been down for 7 years and still looks perfect.
I've used a steam mop on all of them, to no detriment.

Depending on the price differential I’d consider stretching to karndean. We had ours done in 2018. It has not got a single scratch, lift, mark or stain despite being a holiday let for 4 of those 5 years. I dropped an entire can of paint on it and it wiped off.

We had click down. Lasted about 18 months before we had issues. Now have glued down polyflor Camero. We are having issues with it bubbling where sunlight hits it. Known issue and it invalidates your guarantee. I wouldn't get either again. We've had old school laminate that's lasted for longer than both sets of lvt for half the price

Op, worth looking at hausys Decotile 55 if you want a cheaper option to Karndean. It was recommended to us by a flooring contractor - it's been brilliant and survived kids and pets, still looks brand new. (Even the estate agent thought it was Karndean..)

I spent ages researching, reading reviews and getting advice. In the end I went for Karndean Knight tile, as I wasn't convinced by what I read about its slightly cheaper competition.

Fortunately my local flooring company is highly experienced in fitting it, and I couldn't be happier with the result. I've had it for just over three years, it's in a room that gets full sun through the patio doors, and it looks as good as new. No fading, scratching or lifting.

JOlly11 · 12/09/2023 22:16

Thanks everyone for all your advice. I'm leaning towards Kardean but interested to hear about Hausys Decotile 55 - has anyone else got any experience with it?

I've got Polyflor Camaro in my hall & downstairs loo (about 14 years) and kitchen, conservatory & utility (4 years) and it's all as good as when it was laid.

Goldmember · 12/09/2023 22:21

We've chosen Polyflor Expona as it's a commercial LVT so should be much more hard-wearing, I dont know what the price comparison is like with karndean though.

SpidersAreShitheads · 13/09/2023 00:59

This thread is perfectly timed as we're currently having a similar dilemma!!

I'm looking for a rustic white/cream/light wood-effect LVT and there aren't lots of those about.

Can I ask - what thickness should the LVT be to ensure it's a decent quality. I received a Polyflor sample today and it felt very thin. I think it's 2mm - but then when I checked other brands, lots of them only seemed to be 2mm thick! So maybe this is normal?

We have to buy glue down, click fit can't be fitted in our space. Last time we bought click laminate and it was much thicker, so I'm not sure if this thin flooring is normal for glue down...

Can anyone advise how thick the flooring should be - is 2mm OK?? (Sorry to hijack your post OP).

Also, thank you to @Meezer for that link - I've ordered three samples from that site just now!

Interested to know in what way do you think moduleo looks better? Finding it difficult to choose my LVT. Thanks.
