Am I missing any options for shower enclosure in an awkward space?

I have a long thin ensuite and need to replace the shower enclosure. At the moment there is a 1000 x 1000 quadrant shower which I find is spacious but leaves an awkward space in the corner that is very hard to access for cleaning etc. I need to work round the toilet and a window so think my best options are just replace with another quadrant or go with an 800 x 1100 recess shower with a sliding door but not sure if that would feel too narrow. Am I missing any other options? Rough plan attached TIA

Look for kudos screens and trays. They often nip in close to the wall

Why cant you just have a rectangular shower going straight across with either sliding doors or even open and walk in on the right hand side?

You could have a walk in shower - 1100 x 900 or 1100 x 1000 tray with a fixed shower screen of about 600 (you’d have a 500 gap to walk through which is fine as long as nobody is too large).

That way it doesn’t have to be narrow as the shower screen is against the non window wall and you’re not limited by the window.

With a 600mm screen there is a risk of splashing outside the shower but can be limited by having a downwards rainfall shower

I see what you mean about the 800 x 1100 option being too narrow, because the shower would presumably go at one end and you would not have much room either side of you. Why not get rid of the enclosure altogether and turn it into a wet room, so that the whole end becomes an open shower.

I wouldn't have a traditional enclosure. I'd use shower panels all round, have the largest possible low step shower tray and a fixed glass panel about 6/8 inches from left wall, then pivot door. I'd move the shower to the left wall and keep pipes etc surface mounted unless access is easy from the next room.

800 x 1200 is what we have and feels very spacious because of the length I think.

Reallybadidea · 10/09/2023 11:54

Why not go to a showroom and actually get it one that size? We were surprised how much more spacious they seemed when replacing a quadrant shower with a walk in one?

For 800 x 1200 enclosure do you have the shower on the 800 wall?

The existing shower has a riser so the base us raised up about 10cm and when I mentioned to the plumber who was fixing something else whether I could get rid of it he wasn't sure it would be possible. So I am not sure a wet room solution would work. Or maybe I need a different plumber.

Yes we do, so you're facing out into the long bit iyswim

I probably didn't explain it well but I think this is one of the 2 best options.

I thought I had found an ideal solution in the bow fronted enclosures, so 800 at the edge but bowing out to about 950 but there are none that are 1100 width and I think a bespoke tray and enclosure would be pretty expensive.

Make it a wet room and have it all open

AperolWhore · 10/09/2023 17:21

Id get an 1100 rectangle base and a glass panel to create a walk in shower.
