Conservatory roof

I know that lots of MNs are against conservatory's so please don't tell me to knock it down as that's not an option!

Has anyone painted their conservatory roof with anti glare paint as an alternative to blinds ?

Thank you

I wouldn’t paint, as I think it may look streaky or uneven. Have you considered anti-glare window vinyl? I have a blue tint on mine and it’s worked wonders!

I did think about the vinyl but not brave enough to do it myself and can't get anyone who seems interested in having a go. It seems to be a tricky job.

Get one of the superlite roofs fitted, so worth the money, ours is the same temperature as the rest of the house now.

The vinyl I have on one window because it's not frosted is so easy to apply. You wet the window and squeeze the excess water and bubbles out the side with a credit card. It has no adhesive so if you go wrong you can pull it off and start again. It's definitely softened the glaring heat from the sun in the room. It's just called privacy film on Amazon. Just make sure the window is squeaky clean when you start.

What's a superlite roof? I'm looking at buying a house with a uPVC conservatory, not brick base walls but the white panels. Will that support the weight of a superlite roof?

Give0fecks · 02/09/2023 08:18

@HangerLaneGyratorySystem possibly not- it’s also to do with the foundations. To do it prompt you need to check the foundations and unles they are new, replace all the frames to support the weight. That’s one of the only ways to pass the building regulations required. And yes you DO need building regulations. However a lot of cowboy companies will Just replace the roof, which might be fine as long as you’re not planning on selling soon.

Advice much appreciated @Give0fecks - I suspected as much. Making me think twice about buying the house now 🤔
