What to do about naff gas fire

I've inherited this gas fire. I don't hate it but I think it's quite naff. Does anyone know if it's possible to replace the artificial coals with more realistic looking logs? Would this make it look classier or am I fighting a losing battle? .
I really like the inset gas fires behind glass that people are getting built into their country cottages, you can see proper flames and they look really great. Can I make mine look like this sort of thing? https://www.stovax.com/products/fires/built-in/gas-fires/

Personally I would just replace the whole fire. I have one similar to this one in my current house and it looks smart and is very efficient:

The dimensions should be standard.

Thanks. Are you saying I'll never get realistic flames with the one I've got? There are some flames in there but they're buried by a million fake coals. I'm not sure if it's ok to try and remove some of the coals and see how it looks then. I wonder if it might look a bit more like yours?

You can buy some fake logs relatively cheaply and give it a go, and if it doesn't work at least you know for sure. Amazon has a set of ceramic logs for £35 (for example). But if you want glass in front of it, I think you would need to get a new fire - I think the glass-fronted ones are constructed differently from the open ones.

I was thinking about a glass fronted one and asked a gas fitter for his opinion.

Apparently they need servicing annually at a horrendous cost.

Oh, that's a worry. I have a feeling these ones also need servicing annually but I'm not sure how much the cost differs.

Any gas fire should be being serviced yearly along with the boiler for safety reasons. I have one with a glass front because previously I had one without and the amount of dust on the coals was awful. I cannot see why a glass fronted gas fire costs a horrendous amount to service over one with the coals in front.

Thanks. I'm not sure when this one was last serviced so I'll try and book one in soon.
