Removing paint blobs from patio?

Hi, can anyone help with this? I painted some patio furniture at the weekend, I used a cotton dust sheet but the paint was really thin and drippy and just soaked straight through so now I have blobs of orange paint all over the patio, I didn’t realise until I took the dust sheet up and it was dry by then. It’s water based outdoor wood paint. I’ve tried fairy liquid and a Brillo to no effect. Would acetone work on water based paint? Any advice gratefully received!

Jet wash works

If it is water based paint throw water on it and leave it for a while it should dissolve/dilute then just wash it off.

Or jetwash. Or just leave the rain to do its work.

All water based paints are soluble in water (eventually) - they have to be !

Thank you, but the paint (cuprinol garden shades) is specifically for outdoors? I’ve used it before and it’s never washed off my shed etc?

Thanks for the suggestions! I wonder whether to just get someone round with a power washer.

Dunno, all the water based paint I have ever used washed off with water eventually.

Sometimes it takes a bit of time to get the paint wet through again, which is why making puddles and leaving them on top of the paint helps.

Maybe for something where the paint has soaked into the surface like wood it is harder. But for concrete or stone - I had the same - paint from painting a gate had dripped on the concrete and eventually it washed away by rain without any help from me. Gloss or oil based, that is a different issue because it won't dissolve in water.

I’ve had fence paint splashes on my flags a few times which soaked right in. After a few months it disappeared, the rain eventually washed it away. If you look at the tops of fences that get the sun and rain, they are usually more worn than the sides. If it’s water based it will go, you might not notice until spring though. Like others have said, a jet wash will get rid of it.

What's the patio material?

Ginsoakedcatlady · 30/08/2023 18:20

Thank you everyone! It will probably rain relentlessly until the end of summer so hopefully will come off on its own then. It’s paving stones.

I have used a sanding attachment on a drill.

Like a giant manicure.
