Please tell me what you know about aluminium bifolds

I am buying the Cortizo system from a company online.

I just want to check - I know Cortizo is a good system, and this company makes them. Fine. What more do I need to know to be comfortable with an expensive purchase?

I have heard the material of the track is important - with nylon being best. What more do I need to ask them and to be sure of?

Please help. I am sure there is something I don't know I don't know!

ask your else if you want them flush with the flooring or with a storm proof lip. We have the latter because we were worried about water leaking in, but in reality it just makes it annoying to have to step over and sort of defeats the benefit of having bifolds.

Another obvious one I’m sure you’ve thought of is steel and ensuring you completely trust your structural engineer

yourself* not else

Hi there - thanks.

Steel beams above both doors, so that is sorted!

It has been designed with a step - it needs to be there. But yes, I agree.

Unless they’re really really cheapo, they are all much of a muchness. You won’t notice any differences three years in.

Probably more a question if you’re installing yourself. I put in a set of 2.4m wide korniche aluminium doors and they were very straight forward to fit. Lovely quality, lots of rave reviews and I’d add my weight to them too. As per one of the posters above, in reality it’s all much of a muchness from the ones I’ve felt / looked into when buying mine so you very likely can just buy and forget assuming you’re having a professional fit for you.

Professional installer! No way will I put them in myself!

Well in that case I’d just choose the ones you think are the prettiest and be done with it as they’ll likely all come with a ten year guarantee or similar. Probably only thing you really need to stew over is matching door handle and whether you want double or triple glazing….
