I am renovating cottage. For the kitchen, I am using some Ercol units as a freestanding kitchen and I am going to paint them and change the tops, add a Belfast sink. I also have a small range cooker and retro fridge. I have included an example picture of the style of unit.

As I will be saving thousands on a fitted kitchen, I can buy gold quality paint for the units. I’ll be looking for cream and pale sage colours for the paint.

Which paints do people recommend for this? Should I use Zinsser primer first? Is Farrow & Ball the best for the job? I have also seen Little Greene Paint recommended too. What does people think of Frenchic? I have a paint gun. Should I use that or rollers?

Any recommendations on paints or techniques are welcome!

Hi- we recently replaced our kitchen doors to give the old kitchen a refresh, and replaced the stainless steel sink with a Belfast sink to match the new style. The sink we bought was the same dimension as the old one, but as it’s curved it doesn’t fit the space.

Annoyingly the plumber broke the old sink, and we can’t find a sink (Belfast or otherwise) that will fit the space.

Does anyone have any advice on how to make the sink look less odd and badly fitted?

@Frey2024 , sorry don't have advice about the sink itself, but try starting a separate thread. This one is about kitchen paint and over 8 months old, so your post is at risk of getting buried in here without attracting much attention from people who might be able to help 🤗

I swear by Valspar furniture paint from B&Q if that helps. The one where they it for you, it's the best I've used so far as I've never needed more than two coats and always get an even finish (ie you can't see brushstrokes)

I didn’t know you could use it on cupboards! I love valspar for walls. Would you sand or prime first for cupboards?
just looking at our kitchen cupboards, howdens and the paints come off round the drawers and is different whites on the doors.grrrr.

Sand , Zinder bin then anything but Frenchic.
I can't believe they get away with the claims they make

Thanks! Agreed, though I’ve not actually used it, but other chalk paint just seems gloopy mess to me. Oh no!
