Whatever happen to sisal carpets in homes?

They were everywhere in the early 2000s and I can't remember the last time I saw one.

Now everything is grey :(

I guess they were impractical to clean or something?

we had a wool carpet similar to above in 2 previous houses which is a sisal look and looks good as a base for oriental rugs. Loved it.

That's pretty nice looking (and a lot less hurty on the feet, I imagine).

So, confession here…

we had it fitted (natural colour) on the stairs and landing over two floors!

our son - adult, doesn’t live at home, laughs that it exfoliates…

it was very expensive but I love the look, it’s hard wearing and possibly the last carpet I will have to buy in a very long time

recommended 👌

It's no joke having rough stuff underfoot.

We lived in a flat that turned out to have 'luxury' office carpet on it; carpet with virtually no pile. After 12 months of living there, I had to do several chemical peels on my feet to get all the hard, dry skin off!

In our current house, a lot of downstairs is flagstones (at least, that's what it looks like). It is absolutely tearing the bottoms of all my slippers to pieces, and going without them isn't even an option unless I want to do regular chemical peels again :(

Sisal does look exceptionally nice. But I have been reminded of its many impracticalities.

@KievLoverTwo

hahaha! Just realised I didn’t make it clear that I had this fitted last summer!
😂

I love it. It always gets compliments too.

we Haven’t had any slipper incidents either

I wonder if it’s different these days?

Perhaps they've improved the construction of it?

I genuinely love it 😍

Just ordered a sample of this - it's a tweedy colour that I've had in a previous house. Didn't show stains and went with everything. It'll be stairs and landings only, coir so not slippy and a great price
