Fallen ceiling

Hello
Apologies in advance for my complete ignorance but one of my bedroom’s ceilings has fallen through. I believe I need to get a plasterer on (as that seems to be what Google tells me) but I really don’t know.
Any advice would be much appreciated on where to start with this, I know absolutely nothing about building works etc and this is really stressing me out.

I would think the first thing is to establish what caused it and rectify that first. Was it a leak?

I concur. You need to find the cause before attempting a solution. General builder first.

You’ve got an old lathe and plaster ceiling. When originally put up, the plaster squeezes up between the lathes and so adheres to them. Over time, the weight of the plaster and general fragility of it means it fractures and drops.
You either need to pull the whole thing down and replace with plasterboard, or just plasterboard over the existing ceiling using long screws to hold the boards up.
Then get it skimmed.
Maybe check with your insurance?

Also be extra careful of asbestos with this lathe and plaster it’s a very old method of plastering and you need to take extra precaution.
