Re-rendering and external pipework

Looking for advice please!

We own a maisonette and our ground floor neighbours have decided they want the property re-rendered. So hack off the old stuff and apply new render.

Unfortunately our section has various waste pipes, the boiler flue and condenser pipe, doorbell wires etc.

The neighbours are paying for this as part of a wider renovation project and think they are doing us a favour (!) I just see it as a load of mess and hassle.

My question to you lovely people is how the heck is the builder going to work around all the obstacles? Especially the flue etc and is he going to remove pipes and leave me with no bathroom or kitchen waste albeit temporarily? 😫

Please put my mind to rest! I am massively overthinking things here!

They are doing you a massive favour if they are paying the full cost. Render doesn’t last forever and the neighbour obviously thinks/knows it’s at end of life now.
The builder will get around the issues, don’t worry. The worst that will happen is, as you say, the waste water ( not toilet ) may get removed for an hour or so.
The scaffolding is a pain, but it’s also a good opportunity to check and repair all the guttering etc.

If they're paying and not asking you to contribute - you're getting your home rendered for free. They're doing you a favour. Rendering isn't cheap.

The plasterer will sort everything and tell you what they will need access to.

@C4tastrophe thank you for the reassurance. I can cope with an hour or so obviously! Whilst I haven’t spoken to the builder personally, the neighbour did say the pipes wouldn’t be off for very long, a day was mentioned.

Thanks for taking the time to comment 😊
