Kitchen flooring

Kitchen is being replaced in a few months so I need to think about flooring.

I love the herringbone look but not very keen on stick down LVT due to the need for the floor to be screeded. Need it to be waterproof so can't have normal laminate but am considering click LVT - would the floor still need to be screeded?

Also considering ceramic or porcelain tiles instead - would want something textured so it wasn't slippery.

Any thoughts or advice gratefully received.

I have just done click LVT.

The floor needs to be flat, otherwise it puts pressure on the joints and they click when you walk on them. They may even fail over time.

You can get insulation that has a moisture barrier. But generally it has to be quite thin, or else the compression in the insulation puts strain on the joints when you walk on them. There is special click lvt insulation which is thin, plus radiation shield plus moisture barrier if you use the correct tape.

I quite like the click lvt flooring, but obviously it is not as hard wearing as tiles but is much cheaper, much easier to lay and easier to relay.
