We are getting quotes & designs for a new kitchen. The plan is for the hob to stay where it is, on the left hand wall (internal wall).
Trouble is, at the far end of that wall, at the corner with the external wall ... there's the boxed in soil pipe from the upstairs bathroom. And about 5 inches further on from the soil pipe boxing is the window.
So either we have a tiny narrow duct with 3 bends in it (along the wall, and then right and left to bend round the soil pipe boxing). I can't see how that could fit!
Or? Take the duct through the internal wall and run it out along the top of the wall the other side. Which is in the living room. But the living room window is 19 inches away from that wall, so there is, I think, room to stick a duct out through the wall.
OR a recirculating extractor. Which I hear dubious things of. But if it intercepts the grease and grime, it would do (we have a dehumidifier already).
Hob is 2m from external wall (roughly).
We definitely need an extractor because the results of not having one - ever - have been deposited on all the kitchen shelves.
We do want a decent kitchen but ugh.
