And what were their thoughts? Worth going or not? Mulling it over but will be a 2 hours drive there and then same back. Yikes.

I went - TWICE - and it’s approx 4.5 hours (one way) for me! When I placed my order, the staff member commented that I lived closer to France that Doncaster (he looked up my town on a map as he’d never heard of it).

Back to your question… yes, it was worth it, for me. I didn’t know anybody else who had used them and I wanted to get an idea of colour, styles, quality, etc (and since then, my kitchen has become the place friends/family come to so they don’t have to make the journey).

I’d say they have the most on display out of all the kitchen showrooms I visited so I got layout ideas as well as being able to see various cupboard widths, depths, inners, outers, drawers - you name it, you can probably see/touch it in their showroom! The larder cupboards were really useful for me to see in person.

They also have the biggest selection of cupboard/drawer widths - from 300m going up in increments of 50mm if I remember correctly which meant that I have no “filler” items such as bottle racks, or tray shelves!

I bought a couple of door samples home (paid for, but refunded when I ordered) as well as some smaller samples of the cupboard inner finishes.

Also, they don’t have designers/sales people - hence the lower prices, but that said, the 2nd time I went at a quiet time on a week-day (stayed in a Travelodge not too far away) and there was a really helpful member of staff that checked over my plan/design and helped me input my order on one of their computers - useful as I’d overlooked the need for a couple of end panels.

5 years later I’m still pleased with my kitchen, and it looks almost as good as new.

I’m in Scotland and will definitely be going when it’s kitchen time in this house!

We're about an hour away and went to the show room. Definitely worth it. Picked then doors, colour, worktop, handles etc. There are loads of different kitchens, and a room at the end with samples you can put together rather than trying to imagine what a particular handle might look like against a certain colour.

We reckon we saved about £8k by using them and sourcing our own white goods.

Yes I definitely recommend it. I had initially been set on a more expensive kitchen from
there but by visiting the showroom I was able to see that one of the cheaper ones still looked good.
As others as said, no pushy sales people so was able to browse at my own leisure but then speak to someone with my questions.

The free tea and biscuits were a bonus too!

There is a Facebook group which I found useful which has loads of advice where people also post their finished kitchens- DIY Kitchens - design and planning forum and Finished kitchen reviews - UK

We didn’t buy from them in the end but went and it is amazing, I’d recommend everyone looking at kitchens goes and looks because they have so many laid out and so much to look at.

We stayed with relatives living about two hours away. It’s a great showroom and the staff were really helpful. Our extended family now has four Diy kitchens between us and they’re all lovely.

We got our kitchen from there. Definitely worth visiting, and strangely kids loved it too! Lots of drinks and snacks

Freshair1 · 06/08/2023 21:06

Is there a crèche or play area facility like at IKEA?

@Freshair1 - not that I can recall. Much smaller than ikea and no cafe. It's just loads of kitchens!!
