Haywards Heath move

Hi, just wondering has anyone got an idea of what haywards heath is like to live in? I have lived in Kent for about 10 years (Gravesend) and am thinking of moving to haywards heath as it seems to tick a lot of boxes. Does anyone know what the secondary schools are like as well?
Thanks in advance

Sorry to hear that @thesussexdragon . When I look back on my time growing up I remember there used to be so much bullying for want of a better word, sometimes overtly and sometimes subvertly, and I think what you say about it sucking the life out of you resonates. Not always at school, but around town and amongst groups. It felt a constant battle to either be cool or be resilient. It was never enough just to be yourself. I’m not saying that’s unique to HH, but I can identify with the arrogance and entitlement that people talk about further up the thread. It permeated many of the local communities and I think being a small town has stuck with some people as they’ve grown older. Again not all of course. I felt lucky to have grown up around animals so that helped me to be more comfortable with myself but one of the problems with the area is that staying in HH is not something that people can really aspire to? But leaving can be hard for those who have never known anywhere else. I don’t know. I loved being in the area with family but I couldn’t go back, in part as I feel that leaving made me a happier person maybe. Sorry to derail a bit OP, but there is a thread between some of the comments you see here. Obv they are only one side of the story though, so take with a pinch of salt as you could have the same feedback from many different towns and areas.

We moved here from Brighton about a decade ago. Love it but we live in a very nice area less than 3 minute walk to the nature reserve. Shops ten minute walk. Very involved in local community. Not aware of any street drinkers or drug problems certainly nothing that I have ever seen. Kids round here go to BH schools which I guess are fee paying. Would highly recommend our area for sure.

Hi, my partner and I are considering buying a flat in HH. We rent in south London just now and it’s obviously really expensive to buy here. HH seems to tick a lot of boxes on paper and I visited the area and it seemed ok so I’m quite surprised by some of the negative comments about the area on here. You sound quite positive about it which is refreshing! Could I ask which part you live in? Or where you’d recommend looking at?

We had one of these for our first home - 40 years ago! We loved it. Paid around £50K then. And the service charge wasn't £1800 pa. But it was probably all relative to wages. It was like a bungalow on top of the shops and had its own attic! And that cupboard is massive!

Really handy for all the shops and restaurants. Nice to walk in the park across the road. Not too bad for the station. Entrance is behind the shops so very little hassle from strangers.

But much will have changed over that time. We moved towns after a year for a bigger place.
